Women released from prison are often vulnerable and have specific, spiritual, social and practical needs as they return to society and prepare for resettlement in the community. Some women suffer from low self-esteem and a fear of what they may encounter when they leave prison, including hostility and pressures to re-offend. Others may have children in care or individual family problems to cope with.
Formed in 2008, the Sozo Women's Resettlement Project is committed to providing spiritual and pastoral support for women leaving prison wishing to re-shape their lives. The Sozo Project vision is for women released from prison to encounter a new beginning, a growth in faith, a fulfilling life, and for a national reduction in re-offending. Women who want to change and have received God’s forgiveness through the work of the prison chaplaincy have a strong foundation on which to re-build their lives on return to the community. The healing process which started inside prison can be continued in society after release thanks to this sensational organisation. Working with local prisons, Breathe City Church can love and inspire women to be all that they can be before, during and after their release from prison. We are so excited to partner with such an effective ministry in the Sozo Project. For more information about the Suzo Project log on to their website, www.thesozoproject.org.uk .
